Mixed Choir “Dragan Shuplevski“
The Choir “Dragan Shuplevski” of FMU – Skopje is a very important factor of the music life in Macedonia. It bears its current name since 2002, as tribute to prof. Dragan Shuplevski who was an outstanding choral teacher and conductor for many years.
Apart from the regular concerts, the choir participates in joint projects with the other ensembles of FMU and on festivals such as “May Opera Evenings”, “Interfest - Bitola”, “Nish Choral Festivities”, “May Choral Concours” and others. The repertoire of the ensemble is rich and versatile, ranging from renaissance to contemporary. The ensemble performs a capella, as well as vocal-instrumental music.
One of the special events each year is its traditional concert of sacred music in churches such as the Orthodox and the Catholic Cathedrals and the Holly Mery Orthodox Temple in Skopje.
Most of the concerts of the choir have been recorded audio or video for the Macedonian Radio Television.
Under the leadership of prof. Sasho Tatarchevski, the choir established itself as a renowned ensemble on international level as well, winning the First Prize at the Varsovia Cantat Competition in 2010, Second Prize at the Rimini Choral Competition in 2011, the First Prize and the Golden Angel at the International Choral Competition in Krakow in 2012.
